Smart Women - Smart State Awards
The Smart Women - Smart State Awards shine the spotlight on women and girls who are leading the way in science, engineering and information and communication technology (ICT). The awards recognise Queensland's brightest women and girls achieving in their education or careers in non-traditional fields.
Smart Women – Smart State Awards 2008 winners
Premier Anna Bligh and Minister for Women, Margaret Keech congratulated the Smart Women Smart State Awards winners for 2008 at a ceremony held at the State Library of Queensland on Tuesday, 2 September. Fifteen awards were presented, including two new award categories a 'Community Innovation Award' for enhancing Indigenous communities and a 'Green Award' for outstanding achievements in environmental science. A further ten finalists were highly commended and one received an encouragement prize.

Community Innovation Award
The Community Innovation Award showcases the achievements of women making a positive and sustainable contribution to Indigenous communities.
We are proud to announce the winner of the Community Innovation Award, the Community Development Team from Lockhart Aboriginal Shire Council for their Lockhart River Community Development 2007 project.
